About the Ontario G2 and G road tests

You take the G2 road test after at least 12 months with a G1 (8 months with an approved course). You take the G road test after at least 12 months with a G2.

  • Only you and the examiner may be in the car, and aids like automatic parking, lane monitoring, cruise control and back-up cameras are not allowed.
  • The G2 test includes turns, intersections, lane changes, curves, a roadside stop, parallel parking and a three-point turn.
  • The G test adds freeway driving. MTO has removed parallel parking, the roadside stop, the three-point turn and residential driving from the G test until further notice.
  • Arrive at least 30 minutes early, and wait at least 10 days between attempts.
